I believe Keane is the right man as he is Hard as Nails and he will attract many Young Exciting footballers to the stadium of light as he is a Role-Model and a hero to many footballers. I think everybody should give him the benefit of the doubt as there other ex-footballers that have been excellent as managers. Keane is also Irish and Played alongside Niall Quinn for the Irish National team and Quinn also played for Man City and was probably mates with Roy because they both lived in Manchester.

At this stage Sunderland have very little to lose. Roy love him or loathe him is a winner. You know he will give 100% and it won't be for the want of trying. Keane & Quinn working together , that will be interesting to watch.
Anyway I don't think that many people fancied the job.

Its a ridiculous appointment, especially in the light of Quinn's comment that they would be appointing a "world class manager". Maybe he will be a good manager, maybe he won't, but its a gamble. And I would have thought Sunderland should be going for experience at this stage.

He has had a long and established career under one of the best managers ever(i hate Man U). He warked very closely with Fergie and knows the british game inside out, He can spot players and boost team morale,He will also attract player that would be happy to work under himfor he is one of the most respected players in the world, He may need more experience but eventually he will make a great manager!

these mackems answering this question are speaking rubbish...a few weeks ago when they convinced themselves martin oneill was going to be there manager keane wasnt experienced enough...its 50/50 if he`s a good manager but you have to remember that this is the bloke who slated Man Utd players for not being good enough....whats he going to make of the donkeys at sunderland...how long before he`s trying to chin one of the hapless clowns...saying that he can`t do any worse than Quinn

Taking the plunge sometimes pay sweet dividends.
Saw Germany take on Jurgen Klinnsman.
Saw AS Monaco take on Didier Deschamps.
Saw Wales and Blackburn Rovers take on Mark Hughes.
Saw Lazio take on Roberto Mancini.

They all haven't done half bad. In fact they well exceeded expectations and continue to do so.
So I don't think appointing Keano is crazy.

Niall Quinn said they were bringing in a world class manager..... They are bringing in a slightly better than average crocked midfielder with no managerial experience?! Good one Sunderland!
