Good question dude but, the way you asked this question it's like you're living in the year 2089!! Till now brain transplant is not possible! If a part of a brain is damaged, it's doomsday for you. It's because unlike the other cells in our body, our brain cellls do not the power to regenerate. If blood supply to the bain is stopped for 7 mins, you're brain and yourself will die due to ischemia (lack of O2 and nutirent supply and metabolic wastes stagnate).

There are some schools of thought that believe our memories do not reside in the brain. They believe that they are an integral part of our whole body and that the brain is the biological machine that keeps the body alive along with the other major organs. It's suggested that a brain transplant would only serve to diminish certain memories and memories from the body would amalgamate with the new memories of the new brain only a total body organ transplant would have the effect of rendering ALL our memories obsolete. This is a fascinating subject and one that will no doubt keep scientists busy for many a year.

Unless there was some way to transfer your memories into the new brain, yes you would - you would lose all of them - you wouldn't even know as you would have no recollection of it at all. The brain is the center of memory, so transplanting a new brain into your head would erase that without some kind of way of getting around this, possibly by some kind of electronic transfer of the information.

Unless they figure out a way to transplant the memory centre from the old brain, you would lose all previous memories. It's like putting a new hard drive in your computer, all the files stored on the old hard drive are gone when you remove it and the files on the new hard drive replace them.

transplanting brain is just impossible... forget about losing memory... cant just imagine transplanting brain ... if possible,it is only by the hands of the person called "GOD"... just have a look at some of the human anatomy books , and then think over your doubt... you will fall on the floor holding your abdomen and will laugh out loud !!!!.... enjoy !!!

If you put a new hard drive in your PC you'd lose all your personal files. I'd think a brain transplant would be the same. It'd be interesting to see if you'd lose your learned memory - The sort of stuff you do automatically.

Our present understanding of how the brain works suggests you would. However, we don't yet know enough to be sure. Maybe by the time surgery is up to doing brain transplants they will be able to back up your memory onto a flash drive.

To have a complete brain transplant will mean complete memory and personality loss unless it's your brain thats to be moved to another body.

Imagine removing your hard drive and motherboard from one pc to another, it's the same difference

I think it will, cause the memories store in the brain cell. So you will lose your memories, but when you wake up, you live with another person memories...

But it is impossible to have brain transplant currently... not sure in future....
