One of the best ever. Chosen repeatedly by Playboy Mag as best guitarist, was once asked to be Economic Minister of a European country I can't remember the name of. Very technical musician. If you couldn't read music, you didn't play for Frank.
Wrote and recorded tons of music. Was respected by musicians all over the world for his innovation and depth, From Rock to Classical. Tried to tour Europe with full Orchestra but got hung up by costs.. Two of his children were Moon Unit and Dweezil. Recorded "Valley Girls" with Moon Unit. Dweezil plays guitar and is currently touring. He wrote an autobiography. Read it! Worth It.
I could go on and on. Do go to the Internet and /or your library. You will find plenty.
I was lucky enough to have had a conversation with him in about 1972 (I was Two). Really! Great story if you want to know more, mail me.
Great man. Left us too soon.
By the way, how can some of you bozos rip Frank? Oh, he was different than you. I keep forgetting the number of uneducated, closed minded, no class idiots on this site. You know who you are. None of you have a clue about Frank, so you trash what you don't know or understand. Your ignorance still shows through.
I forgot to mention I saw him live at least five times. Many different phases but always SPECTACULAR!!!

Along the genre as Jimmy Hendrix in his playing has a web site which will give more information his music is still around on Cd's and still around on vinyl.

He died of prostate or bowel cancer. He taught people like Steve Vai (excellent guitarist) of Whitesanke fame, and Joe Satriani (yet another excellent guitarist). He usually took most of his pupils on stage with him as you can see on the pix on the album covers. His music is bizarre/funny/deep and free- in the way of never knowing where it's going next from one chord to the next.
Take the others' advice on where to find it. It should be quite cheap in the regular music shops.

wow, noone remembers Ahmet, only Dweezil and Moonunit :(. .. .
His music, as stated, does not catagorize easily. Rock, neoclassical, freeform, funk, jazz, disco... He was a true modern day composer. If you cannot find any of his works at a music store, sue that place for crimes against humanity lol

go to your local library -you can borrow his CDs for about £1.50 (probably less, I'm erring on the side of caution), and then if you find you don't like it you haven't forked out a tenner for an album you never listen to. But you will like it, I'm sure.
