pull the plug and add untill it starts pooring out. this is how u know it is full. auto makers put the hole, usually, at the point to where u can not, no matter what, overfill the pumkin.

If you need to add 2 qt to the rear end, You should also check the rear brakes to make sure you do not have a bad axle seal. remember the fluid went somewhere find out where it went.

first of all make sure you use the right type of oil. older trucks take 80/90 weight. newer trucks use a synthetic i forget what weight it is but fill it untill it comes back out the hole you filled it in. also if it is a newer truck and it has posi you may need an additive that you can pick up at your local parts store. i have a 2003 f150 and it took almost 3 quarts it cost me almost a 100 bucks to do it my self

The fill hole is positioned so that if you fill it to the bottom of the fill hole, you will have the correct amount of oil. Make sure you use the correct type of oil
