At the San Deigo Comic Con 2006
they made it clear they have enough for five maybe six season.
and would leave after that if they continued the show it would be without the current creative team.

The creators of Lost recently did an interview where they said they are completely winging it, they have no idea what is gonna happen, how long it will last etc! They said when it gets to the point that people are saying 'right, this is taking the mic now' and are getting sick of it, then they will finish it. Have a feeling the interview was on the channel 4 lost webiste but cant be sure.
