Most likely she is just having heartburn. Tell her she can not eat spicy food like she use to. If you are really worried, called a 24 hr. advice nurse. NO PAINKILLERS - she can not take anything like that.

Where is the pain? If its high up in her chest/stomach region then its heartburn.
If its crampy and low down in her back, abdomen, hips area (the sort of place you'd get period pain) then it may be more serious and she needs to see a doctor.
A waterbottle can help backache. The only painkiller safe in pregnancy is Paracetamol (I'm British sorry, I don't know what its called in the USA) - Aspirin should not be used as it is not safe. Try rubbing her back, it might just be a sprain/strain.
If its high up in her chest and its heartburn then either try an antacid (Tums, Gaviscon), get her to sip some cold milk to eat a bit of yoghurt. I'm on medication to control my production of stomach acid because I have terrible heartburn and traditional antacids just make me puke. But what I'm on (Ranitidine) has to be prescribed for her by a doctor. Ordinary antacids like Tums can be bought over the counter although you will need to tell the Pharmacist that she's pregnant to check they're safe.

There could be some confusion concerning the cause of the
pain as you did say she over-ate on the previous night. Fast
food is not the best for a pregnant woman and, since you
mention "last night", this food could already be in her lower
bowels. Please no painkillers. A hot water bottle could help
if it is fermentation of the food in her lower bowels, but even
so, I would not suggest any "trial and error" solution in this
case. The only, and best solution is to visit a doctor (not a
midwife) as soon as possible as it seems that both of you
are worried. Get going quickly and both will be relieved.
Good luck and God Bless all three of you. Iain

eating hot foods will only upset HER not the baby. Have lots of tums and anti acids handy since a growing baby takes up space in the uterus pushing mommy's organs up and down so baby can fit in the middle..lol..that's just cute, but it SUCKS and it's very common that moms get heartburn from eating spicy foods, not HOT foods, that just burns the mouth silly.
The ONLY med's for pain while pregnant is tylenol UNLESS prescribed by her doctor...ONLY...do not give her anything else! just tylenol!!!! Waterbottles??? for what? swollen feet maybe or filled with water to drink. Water is BEST!!!
Next time you need help, I suggest calling the hospitle, ask to speak with a nurse in "family beginnings" or the Nursery! K
not us! It's just safer that way! But thanks for a good question!

Recommend against painkillers without consulting your doctor. Some can cause problems later in the pregnancy. If you suspect food poisoning she needs medical care as soon as possible. If she is being sick or has diarrhoea give her lots of water to keep her hydrated until she sees a doctor.

If the pain is travelling all around her chest and stomach it is trapped wind and if thats the case get her to drink some hot water and do some very gentle stretching. If it is heartburn then any chalky substance followed by lots of water. And if the pains are in her stomach get it checked by her midwife, Just phone and they will see her.
I hope she feels better soon. Take Care

With all due respect, Sir, if your wife is in such terrible pain and you're this worried about her, don't you think you ought to get her to the nearest emergency room? If she's in premature labor, which she could very well be, you're wasting time asking mainly non medical professionals for their advice. Your unborn child could be in danger. Let me repeat this: Your child could die if you don't get your wife to the hospital - if she's in premature labor, your baby is very unlikely to survive if delivery can't be stopped. As some people stated here, better safe than sorry. Go to the ER!!!

Painkillers are not the best option...they do nothing for hearburn and any that do, could harm the baby. Give her some milk and burned toast (I know it tastes gross, but it works, also is great for morning sickness)...mylanta also helps relieve minor heartburn....but the milk and toast should do it and make sure she is sitting up and not lying down!

Go to the Doctors or Midwifes as soon as possible and get it checked out. And remember next time...if something dosnt agree....no HOT stuff.!!!! And if your wife likes or wants HOT stuff....you had better get naked for her...as im sure it would be less painful and maybe just maybe more enjoyable tooo.

NO pain killers. It is only heart burn after the spicy food. Firstly she must watch her diet and eat simple but healthy things. If the pain continues she must get in contact with her doctor. You could try heart burn tablets like gaviston or simeco or maalox.
