Try a syringe....its a trick a lot of nurses use in the nursery of hospitals. feel the syringe with formula and put it in the babies mouth with your finger and the baby will usually feed from it because they feel as if it is a mother breast feeding it.

Force feeding a child of any age could cause more food issues later in life.
Has the child truely been diagnosed failure to thrive? Have there always been feeding issues?
Breastfeed.or feed pumped milk.
Try feeding expressed breastmilk or formula in a way other than a bottle. If baby is 3 mo or older, try a soft spout sippy cup like Avent. Other alternative feeding methods are a spoon, a medicine dropper, a syringe, or a small soft cup (like the kind that comes with Pepto Bismol or Nyquil).
What does your doctor say?

Force feeding is not the right way, you should try to play "the eating game" with the child, try being a child and play with the child and tell him/her that eating is a game, play with him/her, try eating with him/her even if you have to drink milk from the bottle for it. Tell him/her about his/her favourite cartoon character and tell him/her how his/her favourite character eats and also tell him/her that if he/she will eat that way he/she will be just like his/her favorite cartoon character. Try to create a geleousy condition by telling the child that the other child (his/her friend) eats more than him/her that will ofcourse make the child eat with intrest without any force feeding.
Mostly the small children dont eat because they do not know the importance of food, as they are small the dont even know what hunger is. When they feel hungry the lick the thumb and/or try to swallow everything that comes in his/her way which is a very bad habbit for the child, a child in is danger of getting ill because the thumb and other non-eating things have lots and lots of bacteria on them.
Good Luck! a hug to your child! :)

I am a breastfeeding supporter, so i'm certainly encouraging the breast. However, with many babies mom is going to try a number of different bottles and nipples. Try catching the baby before he is too hungry and have someone other than mom feed the baby. Are you able to breast feed?

You need to ask your pediatrician about this, not a message board. Babies fail to thrive for a medical reason, not just cause they are picky. You need solid medical advice and counsel.

My son hated bottles and pacifiers. By 3 months, he was drinking from a cup and eating baby cereal mixed with breast milk from a spoon. Give it a shot! You never know!!
