I have just started an ent org company and have been asked to organise a poker night (Not Poke Her night!) can anyone help or point me in the right direction as to how I go about doing this. They want it to be a tornimant with no money changing hands, persons will pay entry fee and winner with most chips at end of night wins a prize can anyone help as I haven't got a clue about card games, would I need a few dealers or just one Poker expert working the room?

I have heard of people who do this for a living. You pay them a fee and they turn up at your house with all the equipment including table etc. and run the game for the evening. You may be best hiring someone like that otherwise advertise for someone who works in the local casino and buy the equipment in.

be careful this is not illegal. It's okay to have a poker game for money, but the house cannot take a cut. If you have an entry fee and all money is not paid out, essentially the house is taking a cut. You may have to call it a donation to get chips or something.

As for the poker, learn the rules of Texas hold-em. Have a time keeper that ups the blinds every 15 minutes or so. This keeps the game going along.

Absolutely. My website has full details of how to set up poker games, either cash or tournaments.

For the scale you're talking about, it sounds like you'll need to source tables and dealers. I haven't gone as grand as that, but it will give you general pointers and perhaps open your eyes to considerations.

If you have any casinos in your area try to hire one of their dealers when he's off duty. I did that where I am because I can deal 7 different card games.

depends how many people are playing.. but you will most likely play Texas Hold 'Em - have a look online for the rules - it's probably the easiest game and it's what they play on TV too
