I am a hindu and I believe in him very very much so, it is not confirmed weather he was muslim or hindu, but he believed in all mankind living peacefully regardless of their religion. It is his beliefs and teachings that I follow and what religion he was is irrelevant to me.

The question that Sai Baba Or Shirdi Ka Sai Baba was a Hindu or a Muslim has been resolved long time ago after the death of the greatest saint. After his death there were only flowers left instead of his body. The Muslim buried them and the Hindus burnt them according to their traditions.
Whether Shirdi Sai Baba is a Muslim or a Hindu is not very important. He is mainly regarded as a "Fakir" . On the other hand, his ways and his teachings had been derived from the current situation in the tradition of Hinduism and Muslims of India
Sai Baba was a vegetarian and an idolater to the hilt, which is diametrically opposite to Islamic ethos.
Orthodox Islam doesn't encourage to believe in holy people. Muslims base their faith on the Koran and the supreme truth that there is one and ONLY one God, i.e. Allah. Idolatry and astrology are also severely condemned.

Whether Shirdi Sai Baba is a Moslem or a Hindu is very difficult to tell. He is mainly regarded as a "Fakir" or a Moslem mendicant. On the other hand, his ways and his teachings had strong overtones of Hinduism.
I used to believe that he was Moslem, but that was until I entered a Shirdi Sai temple. My first visit to a Shirdi Sai temple took me by surprise as I never expected to find the idol of Lord Shiva along with a plethora of other gods and godesses inside, including that of Lord Saturn. Also the priests are Brahmins smearing "tilaks" on visitors and devotees which is alien to Islamic belief. Thus, a Shirdi Sai temple is essentially a Hindu place of worship.
Sai Baba was also a vegetarian and an idolater to the hilt, which is diametrically opposite to Islamic ethos. But at the same time it is equally interesting to note that once when he was pestered by his devotees as to what is his religious identity he untied his 'lungi' and to the astonishment of all bared his circumsised penis, which is an Islamic rite!!
Orthodox Islam doesn't encourage Moslems to believe in holy people. Muslims base their faith on the Koran and the supreme truth that there is one and ONLY one God, i.e. Allah. Idolatry and astrology are also severely condenmed. Thus, an orthodox Moslem wouldn't believe in Shirdi Sai Baba.

shirdi sai baba always said that god is one, but hindus introduced all sorts of ritual excluding the muslims from the puja. he is god for everyone and he protects everyone. true muslims, like any devotee, should believe in Him.

If he is a Muslim, why do Muslim have to believe in him? He is not a Prophet, Angel or God. If he claim to be a prophet, then he is not a Muslim.
A normal Muslim person doesn't need anybody to believe in him.
