Clark Kent

I never really liked any of the people they cast as Superman, not even Reeves as shoking as that may be. The WB always goes for young people and mostly the wrong young people. However as Clark Kent Tom Welling excels, as Superman? I'm not so sure.
If anyone has seen the Superman vs.Dracula or For tomorrow's rendition of big blue, that's the kind of guy that'll do for Superman.
But then that sort of perfection is amiss even in Hollywood!
If you're talking about DC universe continuity, then there are a whole lot of Superman's, all equally real. But I suppose what makes Superman who he is are the things he has had to face. Then I'd say Earth-1 Superman, or Kal-El of Krypton.
Hope this is what you were looking for...

If you read some of the old magazines and paperback, it looks like the first Superman might have been Doc Savage.

He was "the Man of Bronze"
He had a Fortress of Solitude
His first name was Clark.
he had powers and abilities far beyond those of ordinary men.
"The basic concept of a man trained from birth to fight evil"

and his blonde cousin, Patricia Savage, sometimes assissted him.

Any of that sound familiar?

I would have to go with Christopher Reeves on this one! I probably won't even watch the new guy, but that is just me!
