I dont know if u r new in excel. But if u are so, VB is not good for you. Then you will use formulas to make simple but useful spreadsheets. First of all you must understand the cell-based format of excel. Each cell has a name that is derived from the name of column and line (A4 means the cell is in A column and 4th line). Then u should learn the basic formulas. for example this formula returns you the sum of two cells : =sum(a2;a3). whenever you change the A2 and A3 cells the cell in which this formula is written will change to give you the ultimate total. There are lots and lots of formula in excel. You should see them and use them gradually. the "fx" button on the left of the address bar of excel is the gate to formulas. But dont forget every formula must begin with " = ". Without this =, excel cannot see it as a formula. Good luck

The Best place to start learning to automate things using Excel is use the excel help and loook for different functions and formulas .. it can do amazing little things very fast .. You can try Sum, Average, Macros, If condition usage, etc ... To acess help , press F1 while excel application is open.
