Good question. I do most of my work with Firefox because once you get used to it, you can customize it with addons and plugins to maximize efficiency. For example, I have a great combination of Stumble Upon, Delicious and Flickr Bar that's an unbeatable browser feature for picture lovers.
For flat out speed (like looking up info on the fly) stick with Opera and set Google as the search engine. Speeds faster than the human eye can see .
I basically leave IE7 beta set as default and my various applications use IE when they need to connect to the internet.
Visually and speed wise, Opera should be the winner, however Opera gets picky about certain Shockwave files and won't play them. For example, I can't get Yahoo Launchcast or streaming videos from Yahoo to play in Opera. But I keep my eye open to Opera updates all the time. I think you get the point, if it wasn't for Firefox's extensions and addons, I would be a diehard Opera fan.

My list consist of 2 browsers
- IE
- Opera
IE
I like this one because it is ideal to use with some ActiveX controls and XML, JavaScript programs. For example, the JavaScript programs which are written to activate the “Merlin” (office help character) may not run in other browsers. And of course this makes lot of security holes too. So I use this only to check my emails and for limited work. My email signature is not working without IE.
Opera
This is so fast (May be not fast like Firefox!) and easy to use. It came with the tab browsing too. It will not allow you to have ActiveX or unnecessary scripting. There is an option to block the mouse events so the sites may not write stupid codes to hide tackle with the mouse. This is the mostly used browser by me.

The New MS IE is not bad but has a long way to go to compete with the likes of Firefox and opera
Used to be a long advocate of firefox - but after testing opera 9 beta and now using the full version I'm totally hooked
Why
Opera has a built in mail feature - One of the easiest ones I have ever been able to set up - can have multiple accounts - so if you have multiple user names and email addresses you can pull them in altogether with out signing in and out and in etc etc etc
The quick mouse movement shortcuts are Great - fir instance just holding down the right hand mouse button and doing a little movement from right to left allows you to go back on web page
Also supports Bit torrents
Got a good download manager
Has got tabbed browsing - but allows you to preview the tabs and close them without viewing them again
has a good trash option - if you close a web page down by accident you can press this button a bingo it comes back
It has got a voice option where using your voice you can manipulate you web pages and commands
and lots more besides
and used with in linux - brill

Firefox and Opera
Mainly because I'm a web designer and these are the browser that best support web standards.
IE is full of bugs and is a base for many attacks over the internet.

Opera!
New Opera 9 is the best browser for a power user who is willing to sacrifise just a little bit on simplicity.
it's not just a browser it's Mail, Chat, RSS, Newsgroup client too.
view the list of features on : http://www.opera.com/products/desktop/
The ones I like most are:
Tabbed browsing.
Saving Sessions

Don't ever use Internet Explorer as it's full of security holes thus very unsafe online. Use Firefox. It is safe, fast and has numerous of plug-ins that giving Firefox additional features.

firefox for it's tabbed browsing feature.
you don't hvae to have millions of windows open on your desktop, and cluttering up your taskbar when all the webpages can be tabbed in just one window.
also the tool and options in firefox is simplier to use and understand.
if you want to search the net, you can type in the search word in the search bar built into the upper right hand corner of firefox.

Firefox is great. Tabbed browsing, themes, works on Mac, Windows and Linux. IE became unusable and unsafe.
