Age is something that happens to us along with death but why are so many people young and old under going cosmetic surgery.
Are we so worried about our looks vanishing or is being the forever young peter pan syndrome some thing we want.
Looking around at people who have aged you are able to see a life times experience rather than this face that looks young but somehow disjoined from the rest of the body.
Vanity or otherwise?

It is exactly what you said, growing older means the closer we are to our deaths. It is also a form of fitting in with societys standards about how we should look. Older women have hard times these days to keep their spouses from leaving them for younger women. So in order to keep their spouses they need to look young and never let their real age show.

Alot of what people do depends on what celebrities do.
When you see amazing women like Demi Moore and Madonna looking more beautiful than ever well !!!
Otherwise I think that people want to stay young mentally so the physical aspect is a motivating reminder isnt it ?
In the end each person decides on his or her own look. George Clooney looks great with grey hair ! But I think it is a factor that weighs mostly on women more than men.....

Society dictates that young is better than old.
When was the last time an older man left his wife for an older woman?
Some people just can't accept getting older. I think it's because they still feel 20 years younger than they are and they think they should look the same age as they feel.
