Absolutely go to college.

It's a big and often cruel world, out there - protect yourself as diligently as you can, and a good education is a powerful weapon.

Your mom's a smart lady.

Going to college is the best option you will get. Remember that being educated is one of the things that money can't buy.

With regards to your doubt on whether you will be able to get a job upon finishing a college degree, its not actually a problem as long as you have determination I am sure you will get one. Just take note though that getting hired is not as easy as counting your fingers. So, if you want to have a good chance of being hired be sure that you will have satisfactory ratings in your studies considering that most companies now a days are looking for persons who have good scholastic records. You don't have to be a genious though, at least a "street smart" kind of person will do and add up your honesty, determination, integrity, confidence and to work well with other people will surely be a good advantage in landing you a job.

Honestly, if you go to college go into a field/major that actually has jobs available at the other end.

The people I know who couldn't get jobs after school were in humanities and some social sciences. Hard to find work with a history or art major.

People in more applicable majors had multiple offers upon graduation.

By going to college it doesn't mean that you are guaranteed a job out here in the real world it just means that you will have lots of job choices open to you because of your education. It is very commendable of you to go because you want to make your mom happy but make sure that you pick the field of study that interest yourself because that will be the job you will be trying to get when you graduate. Good luck in your life.

You can find a job without going to college, but it won't be a good job. If you want to have some sort of stability and a good paying job, you need a college education. Good for you for wanting to make your mom happy.

Well...... nothing can be done if u don't get a job even after going to college, but staying at home wouldn't get u job either, there are chances that u would never get a job if ur illiterate. Just try ur LUCK go to ur college. If u don't get a job then ur gonna be added to the unemployed list. That all.
