in final fantasy XI, what's the easiest way for me to make gil?

i'm a lvl13 war in windurst, and it's hard to get gil to buy equipment. I just may not know the best way to go about it. Right now i just go around and collect stuff and sell anything but what i need for synthesis, and it doesn't really yield that much gil. Anyone know a better way to make money?

I aggree with dipydoda, Moat carp is probably your best way for you to go. Insect Paste is a lvl 29 cooking item so basically anyone can get up to the point to making them. You can also get them off the AH or fishing guild since you are in windurst. I have been well past the point of needing to buy the paste off the AH. I probably wouldn't spend more than 10% of the going price of Moat Carp for the Insect Paste. Moat Carp go for 10k on my server (Asura) just as a reference point.

Being in Windurst you can also keep at those Crawlers, Goblin Thug, Mandragora, and Yagudo for Silk Thread, Wild Onions, Cornette, and Yagudo Bead Necklaces respectivly. All of them sell fairly well since they are used for higher level synthing or fame building quests.

Being a WAR you are kinda lucky. You go though a lot of different equipment so you can really sell your stuff as you are buying upgraded stuff. Some of the other jobs don't have as fast a turn (and thus more expensive equipment) around so they don't make back that money as quickly.

Remember to check out the merchants for your equipment before you check the AH. A way people try to make money is buy something from a merchant for 500 and sell it for 3-4k because people don't really check the merchants most of the time. One great way of making money is saving money.

As you get higher up in levels (40+) you can make money doing Burning Circles Notoruous Monstoners (BCNMs) which you get into by trading Beastmen/Kindred Seals for orbs and trading those orbs tothe Burning Circles in the beastmen camps. DO NOT DROP YOUR BEASTMEN SEALS! That is one of the biggest n00b mistakes in the game.

This isn't an easy task, especially at your lvl. Repeatable quests can help you build up a little bit of a nest egg, along with building your fame. I wouldn't worry about synthesis at your lvl, considering it takes a bit of money to start making money, sell your crystals for right now. You can try fishing, depending on your sever Moat Carp sell pretty well (3-5k a stack). Best thing to do is keep lvling for right now, the higher your lvl the better chances you'll have of being able to hunt NM's and start doing Beastman Seal battles (those start at 20) and be able to make a sizeable amount from those.
