On the 88's, it is a can shaped filter (metal) in the line on the frame rail near drivers' side rear tire. To make it easier to change in the future, remove the filter and clamp in a piece of fuel line instead of a new filter, then cut the fuel feed line at the firewall and clamp in a new one there. It will be much easier to replace. BTW, the 5.0 is a good strong motor that will run 400,000 to 500,000 miles with little maintenance.
