Ah the perennial question of p2p file sharing programs.

Having either program installed on your computer is not illegal, it's only illegal depending on how you use it.

If you're downloading copyrighted material for free that's illegal, if however it's material that is free to share then it is not.

I'm pretty sure Limewire transmits mainly copyrighted songs, etc., so if you're worried about the legality I wouldn't use them.

But if you're interested in getting copyrighted songs for a knockdown price, there is currently a loophole in Russia, whereby Internet based content is copyright free. This means you can quasi-download lots of songs for very little money. There are a number of sites, but the main one is www. allofmp3.com.

Hope this helps.

The programs are legal--when you enter into any of them, they generaly ask you to tick a box stating that you will not use the program for illegal use(copywrites etc). This covers them--not you.here is a very useful site to find information on the different p2p file sharing programs.

If I were you I would be MORE concerned with what harm they can cause your system! When you download from one, you are downloading from another users PC! People wonder where viruses and malware come from! You dont know whats on that users pc! The user probably doesnt know his system is infected to begin with! File sharing sites arent illegal by themselves, what IS illegal is trading copywrited material from someone elses system! If and when you get caught, YOU pay the price, not the file sharing site!

i know that limwire is legal cuz it was made outside of the US. But in general downloading music without paying for it is illegal. So... either way... if ur downloading music (like me) we shud both be arrested by now :-)
