Hey all, I am male, 18 years old and I study acting here in Los Angeles since I was 15. It's my dream to become an actor (screen). I am quite good looking (quite the model type...), my height though is 5'4" 1/2 (without any shoes and about 5'7 at the very most WITH shoes...), would you say I am short? Do I still have the potentiality to grow taller after 18, even few more inches? Do you think my height will influence the opportunities of being able to get acting jobs here in Hollywood? Serious roles, not a Gary Coleman or a Danny DaVito (with no offense to them...lol)
I've studied many years to come to this point and now at the thought that height could influence my future depresses me greatly. What do you people think? Thank you for taking time to read!

Most men stop growing between 18-21...so there is a possibility you will grow a bit more...
even though height is kind of important in Hollywood these days, your acting ability is more important..look how far Michael J. Fox and Tom Cruise got...
And when James Dean told he was too short to be an actor, he said "How can you measure acting in inches?"

well, males usually grow till 21, and by that time, u have 3 years to grow a few inches, drinking milk daily may help u grow during those 3 years
5'4 is a bit short, and i feel that as long as u are about the same height as very famous stars like tom cruise and them, ur fine
other than that, being short may affect ur career, but good luck!

in film hight isnt sooo much a factor, you just have too look the part your physical presence is a big part of that, but just remember that its not you personally they are turning away if you dont get the job its just that you may not be what the casting director is looking for.
also auditioning is an 8 hr a day job in itself dont go to one audition and think its your's go too as many as your agent can set up for you and get back as soon as you can too any call backs you might get.
it's not always important to have a lot of talent just dont suck at any readings you get or any screen tests you go too because if you are what they want then chances are good they'll work with you to get the film made.

Don't worry as a lot of actors are short. Take Tom Cruise or Sylvester Stalone or even Bruce Willis. It all depends on how good of a actor that you are. Good luck in making it big out there.

Tobey "Spiderman" Maguire is 5'7", Elijah "Frodo" Wood is 5'6", Seth Green is also 5'6" I believe and these people can just go ahead and retire from all the money made from their acting careers. As far as landing serious roles, of course height will matter. Trust me if you have talent, height will definitely be overlooked.

People are a lot smaller in real life than they appear on film. Sylvestor Stallone is not very tall, and he was in a couple movies.

Height doesn't matter in Hollywood. It only matters in modeling.
