Supposedly, after being married for seven years or just being with someone for that long, you start looking at other options. Hence you have an itch to scratch. In layman's terms, one is expected to leave/cheat at this time.

i have heard the seven year itch is after the first seven years of marriage they are itching for more excitment and start to stray. my dad and mom are committed and love each other more everyday. it doesn't have to happen if you really trust each other and have a commitment. be best friends and look for new ways to enjoy each other and life.

It's a film with Marilyn Monroe in it.
Or in a relationship it is said that you get a 7 year itch where you may get fed up being with that person or have an affair or something like that. Apparently, after 7 years with someone you will have longings to be without them

Yeah it's from a movie of the same title...guess it means that 7 years into a marriage men get the "itch" to cheat.
Like to know where they came up with that number...more like 7 months these days? LOL

Well, from what i heard, 7 yr itch is the hardest time a couple undergo when they reach 7 years of being together. Maybe, their love for each other fades, both partners become very impatient of the other, seeking other people's company, finding fault in their partners....
but personally, I really don't believe in such thing. True love really gets tested at no particular time, but it depends on the people involved on how they handle difficulties in their relationships.
