According to the automobile insurance industry it's not near the top for causing accidents. Cell phone use is number one. I say fix that problem first.

I had this discussion with my husband. If you can't talk and drive why are they still letting people eat and drive. I think they are worse than the talkers. I was behind this lady one day that was all over the road. So the minute she looks like she has straightened up enough for me to pass her without getting killed, I did. I thought she may have possibly been sick or drunk. When I passed her do you know what she was doing? Eating this enormous hamburger and fries. She had the hand with the burger in it on the wheel and the other hand was loading her mouth with fries. What happened to 10 and 2 people? That's what I learned in driver's ed.

It's not that necessary but I have seen on Tv before that they wanted to ban smoking while driving in Germany..and showed how someone was trying to turn off the cig focusin and lookin at the ashtray ignoring the wheel and the whole road, very risky.

I think it really depends on what you are trying to eat, if your trying to eat french fries I thin it is fine... if you are trying to eat a three course meal or spaghetti then I think you should be at a table not behind a wheel. It also should depend on how well you drive. I think some people shouldn't be on the road with both hands on the wheel, let alone eatting a big mac...

yes, it should.

Eating while driving can be as hazardous as under the influence. Think about it eating some Church's or Popeye's chicken and get a bone(wing tip, bristle) stuck in the throat. Choking driver. Need I say more. Nope, I'm tired of typing.

Of course, doing anything else but driving, while you are driving should be banned

i guess there are some types of food that should be banned..specifically those that can spill and thus distract the driver..but eating food like cookies or bread while driving isnt really dangerous

Anything which tends to distract a driver's attention from the road should be banned! Nevertheless, there will always be idiots who think they know better than 'the law'.
