Download and install VLC media player and then go to file - wizard - Transcode/save to file then choose the file from the dvd which normally would be VOB_1 , VOB_2 etc, then select the destination where you want to save the file. This can be your hard disk and there are options to choose under which format you want to save the file . You can select the default MPEG format itself and then let VLC media player start transcoding. The player plays the file and converts it into the required file and format and save in the location we want. This way you repeat for all the vob files one by one and convert them to mpeg. These files can later be transferred to cd by using neuro burner - video cd option . Note you might require more cds to transfer.all the data from 1 dvd.

Why bother to convert DVDs to Cd's? DVD is the inn right now, it can store bigger files 1g or more. Data in DVD files can store as much as 3CD files. DVD players come cheap nowadays.
