This song was written to help children associate wool with the animal that produces it, and also the sound that a sheep would make. Baa Baa Black Sheep was first published in 1744. It probably dates back to the Middle Ages, possibly to the 13th Century, and relates to a tax imposed by the king on wool. One-third went to the local lord (the 'master'), one-third to the church (referred to as the 'dame') and about a third was for the farmer (the 'little boy who lives down the lane').

baa baa black sheep has nothing 2 do with racism, originally any black sheep wouldn't be shawn 4 commercial reasons & so the wool was utilised by the poorest farm workers more interestered in warth than in fashion. it was banned in a failed attempt by some polititions 2 prove they were not racist. the truth of the matter is by seeing the colour difference in animals as something 2 protest proves they are!

I don't know what the history of baa baa black sheep comes from but I don't think it has anything to do with race.

lol, this is a stupid thing.." Baa Baa black sheep" has NOTHING to do with race at all, it has more to do with society than with race: One for the Master, One for the Dame, and one for the little boy who lives down the lane.
