Benoit entered the 2006 King Of The Ring tournament only to be defeated by Finlay in the opening round. At Judgment Day 2006 Benoit gained some revenge by defeating Finlay with the Crippler Crossface in a very physical grudge match. On the May 26, 2006 edition of Smackdown!, Mark Henry attacked Benoit during a match, giving him a back and rib injury. Benoit then announced a sabbatical to heal nagging injuries to return around October.

My cousin who was just in Connecticut at a house show informed me that Benoit was there and defeated Simon Dean in 4:34. This could mean one of two things, he will continue to work off the ring rust at the house shows for the next several weeks until he is back late September early October (as this is what vets do, work for up to a month and a half before a tv return to get back timing and in ring shape), or this was a practice bout for him and we could be seeing the rabid wolverine back on tv as soon as next friday if they found a stroryline for him!

He was kind of injured at Judgement Day, when he defeated Finlay.
After that, on SD!, he was even more injured in the same spot, (somewhere on his spleen) and had to do some surgery, after what Mark Henry did to him.
Yes, he is doing some house shows now, but that's just to get him ready for LIVE SD!. He is probably still practicing after his surgery is over.

Chris took time off to heal. He had many physical problems. A source told me that he is scheduled to come back next month.
Chris is a true pro - I want him back very soon. Bring more life back into Smackdown.

He is out indefinitely or until he feels capable enough to get back in the ring after what mark henry did to him.

he is in the injury list after a hard beat by mark henry........but he will be back soon at september-november....and he will be back with the best.....and mark henry then just will see what can benoit do.....as batista did to mark henry........
