when i visited the institute for plasma-physics, i was told that the gys there need about 2-3 MW and it lasted about 3 minutes to heat it up. And it wasnt only heated with microwaves...
I wanna see a normal household where you can get 2-3 MW smoothly from a socket =D

Is it dangerous if the kitchen catches on fire? Are you in trouble if you burn or scortch the inside of the microwave?

There are websites (like How Stuff Works, if I remember) where they talk about how to do this safely. The "plasma" doesn't last long, and it won't turn you green or mutate you into a Hulk or anything!

Always experiment safely, not like I used to do!

In order to do the scientific experiment safely you need to know exactly what you're doing.
