if you can use scissors to cut the top of the carpet to remove all of the burnt area,( you know just barely under where its burnt) or you can find a small piece that matches and use carpet tape on the bottom to stick it in place it blends in after you vacuum it a few times

If you are renting from a management company, then that is not very good for you, as they are very clinical. However, if you are renting from an individual and you have been good with the rent checks getting there on time and have not had any problems, you stand a chance on them going easy on you.
You cannot replace it very well, because you probably do not have a replacement carpet, only if it is a new place. If it is old, it would be hard to make it look like it belonged there. Also, you could try some soda water and see if some of the dark area would come up, but if it is a bad burn, you are stuck. The best thing, is honesty is the best policy. Also if you think you can put furniture on it, that won't work either when you move out, because most owners will have a little walk through before they give the deposit back. You might lose your deposit, as that is what that is for, not rent. It is a deposit in case of something like this. No, do not become a criminal and burn the place down, he,he. They will track you down and put you in jail. Just sit down with the owner and explain what happened, they know that accidents happen. If you try to do anything else, remember, it is their house, and you do not want to do it that way. Just tell them what happened and take your lumps. Good luck.

Try and buying half a square of the same carpet, the put this over the burnt area making sure the pile faces the same direction.then holding the top piece down firmly cut through both the top and bottom with a sharp carpet knife, this will give you the same cut out profile.remove the bottom and glue the new piece
in place, then hammer the joints lightly and finally have the carpet cleaned in order to reduce the difference in colour between the new
and original

Put a piece of furniture over the top and hope the Landlord doesn't notice until the next tenant moves in. Or as our friend above says have a proper fire and ask Landlord to claim on insurance. If it is really noticeable you could try trimming a bit off somewhere else and trying to superglue over burn! Sorry, can't be much help had similar problem myself with nylon carpet which melted. Ended up with chair on top. You could always look on net I found remedy for pollen stain.

I'm assuming you have some spare of it.

Cut out the burnt part, and replace with some of the spare. You could glue the new bit to the underlay or stitch it to the existing carpet. Once it's in place fluff it up with water and a stiff brush, this should help it merge in with the existing carpet.

You or the landlord should have insurance which should cover a replacement carpet. Accidents happen! Otherwise cutting a piece out and fitting a patch is the best option.

depending on how deep the burn is and what the carpet is made of you may be able to get rid of the mark by rubbing very hard with sandpaper or glass paper taking off the hard burnt surface. Good luck

Got insurance? Landlord got insurance? Not that that industry will be much use. Read your contract and don't panic into buying a new carpet without contacting the agent or landlord first, it is just possible that the purchase of a rug may be acceptable.

nothing you can do for burnt carpet, have a sneaky peak underneath though, if it's got some nice floorboards you can always say the carpet was infested with fleas or you thought it looked better with the boards showing or that it was dustmite heaven and it affected your athsma

if the burn is not to deep into the carpet (you'll think I'm mad) use a razor to shave off the burnt layer if it's deep then there is not much you can do except rearrange the furniture to cover it
