I always liked Zidane but I have to admit, he acted very pathetically in the game against Italy. I mean, he fell for like the oldest trick in the book! Nobody proved that Materazzi insulted his family and even if he did, that doesnt change the stupidity of Zidanes act. I also think FIFA was wrong to charge Materazzi. Every game has its verbal provocations and if they want to charge all of them?? They will be very busy in the future. Its up to the players to control themselves and not react. Like I said, I was and still am a fan of zizou but he acted like an idiot. When you physically abuse someone on national TV, you cant come up with the excuse, "he talked about my mommy!!"
P.S. I do think he still deserved the golden cup though

I think Zidane was definitely provoked but this wasn't the first time he head-butted someone so it was becoming sort of a habit. He was frustrated and angry and it probably didn't take too much to make him blow his lid. Still, he always seemed a calm person and a civilized man wouldn't hit someone with the whole world watching and then say he didn't do anything when he was asked by the referee. Buffon insisted that Zidan had hit Materazzi and finally Zidane admitted it. They say that Materazzi called Zidane a terrorist...and his mom is an immigrant so if this is true...it would have been enough to make anyone go crazy but still...you don't hit someone while everyone is watching and then deny it. If he was all that great and he hit Materazzi he should have admired it when asked...people saw it anyway. The explanation for what he did and how he reacted is beyond me.

hey jev.
i am ngr06 but i changed my name to messi 4ever
dont get me wrong .i dont hate you or anything
i just dont like it when you insult the french
no need to insult me because i didnt insult you
well about ur question:
zidane did it because materazzi insulted him with very filthy words which deeply affected zidane
even cannavaro said that he heard materazzi saying very insulting words to zidane(i OMG ii adoooore cannavaro)
it was not caused by frustration
all of the french team werent good
neither zidane nor the french were ready for the italians
they were scared and the loss of hope was clear for the beginning
the italians wanted the cup soo much so they got it
but over all..neither the italians nor the french deserved to be in the final
portugal vs germany should have been the final game
italy vs france should have been third game
as for materazzi
i hate him soo much
for saying such words to a legend
for having the courage to call him a filthy muslim when the french team contains 7 MUSLIMS...
didnt you notice that he is the only player in football history to get punished for saying violant cruel and insulting words to a player
he is the only player who insulted another player calling him a flthy muslim and a terrorist
i hate him

frustration was part of the reason but i think it has very little to do with the headbutt.
materazzi insulted zidane's mother by calling zidane a son of a terrorist prostitude. he did not do it only once but three times until zidane couldn't stand anymore and decided to headbutt the guy.

ermmm NO, Raterazzi must have said something really really bad to him, maybe something racial
...i say this because, Zidane is a sportsman, as a sportsman you need good sportsmanship, this is what one has to acquire,...now for you to forget about being a good sportsmanship, something must have triggered it, thus the racial slur
....REMEMBER if u look at the play back, the rat (raterazzi) said something at first,...Zidane (my gentle hero) ignored him at first and walked away BUT Raterazzi said something AGAIN, and this time Zidane turned around and showed him who is boss...
......I THINK THAT (no change that to..) KNOW THAT RATERAZZI IS A RACIST AND FOUL MOUTHED,...he insulted Zidane and is lying about it just like an italian soccer player would

no way man, Matterazi insulted his family, even those lip readers could make out the words using video replay and stuff. Zizou is the best and most professional players in this decade.

SURELY CAUSED BY FRUSTRATION, NOT BY FEW WORDS ABOUT HIS MOTHER....VERBAL QUARRELS ARE THE JUICE OF FOOTBALL.
TO THAI LAD : MATERAZZI DIDNT CALL ZIDANE SON OF A TERRORIST, THAT'S A BIG LIE PUT ON BY FRENCH......HE ONLY SAID ''I'LL GIVE MY SHIRT TO YOUR MOM....''
