My Dad was on coumadin therapy and his cardiologist was very upset when she learned the pharmacy had substituted generic warfarin instead. She was very adamant that the two drugs work differently in the body.

Zeroth rule of thumb for pharmaceuticals:

Unless you absolutely, positively know what you're doing, only your doctor should switch your medications.

Can people? I honestly don't know, since I don't know the meds and their purposes.
