Try finding a credit union of any kind. Credit Unions don't charge the fees that regular bank do. For instance, my credit union to stop payment on a check is only $8.00 compared to around $30 at a regular bank. I would definately stay way clear of Wells Fargo Bank. From experience, their fees are ridiculous. I also like Bank of America (for a regular bank experience). They are pretty good, plus you can access them from anywhere in America. Just do a little comparison first. Good Luck.

The university credit union is usually the best. Barring that, smaller chains like Bank of the West are the next best shot (lower minimums, fees, etc.).

BofA, Citi, WaMuand the other large ones are difficult to deal with. In college you want minimum balances and fees and maximum interest and access, and good customer service. The only way a larger chain is worth it is if you live off campus and right near a branch.

Stick to the smaller guys if you can.
