Chances are, yes there is a possibility of getting pregnant. Always use a condom to help protect against unwanted pregnancies and STDs. Have her take a pregnancy test to find out if she is pregnant or not.

The birth control is 98% effective if you take it everyday, at around the same time. If you miss one day then it becomes less effective. If you miss two days you have to use another form of birth control, like condoms. If you have unprotected intercourse then start taking birth control pills that is going to do nothing for you. If she is worried, she can get the morning after pill (taken 72 hours after the unprotected intercourse) so she will not get pregnant. This is no the abortion pill, that is different. The best thing to remember is always use protection, no matter what.

Usually, a woman cannot get pregnant two days before her period. However, if her cycle was somewhat irregular that month, there is still a chance of pregnancy.

Taking birth control pills after sex is not effective against pregnancy.
However, the "morning after pill" is a special type of pill that can be taken up to 72 hours after sex, to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg.

That is, if the egg was fertilized and did not yet get implanted in the uterus, the morning after pill will prevent the pregnancy from "sticking".
If the egg was fertilized and already implanted, then the pill will not help.

However, if the 72 hours passed, there is nothing you can do to prevent pregnancy.

Incidentally, you should always use a condom to prevent STDs.

You skip one day - you're probably OK. You skip two days - start to worry. Three days - she can definately get pregnant. Do you know why birth control pills aren't 100% effective? user error!
