I work in a hospital and we are sworn to uphold patient confidentiallity, BUT as professionals we DO need to discuss a patients condition amongst ourselves in order to come up with a solution to the patients problem. Once, a patient came in with a vibrator stuck in his anus and it was on, the doctor could not get it out, so I had to be informed of the problem and contact another hospital and tell them the problem and send the patient over there. Now, because I did not mention the patients name to you, I did not violate that patients right to confidentiality.

I have worked in doctors offices and it just depends on the doctors and nurses. Some talk/gossip others don't.
