it seems that 99.99% of the crys for help here are from folks (especially females) who have bad/low self esteem!

what is your experience/understanding of self-esteem? who needs it anyway? where and how can one find self-esteem training, classes, material, etc.? does Google have anything on it? can you find self-esteem books, tapes, cds, videos, etc. in a library or bookstore? can you offer any websites re. self-esteem? what difference could self-esteem studies possibly make?
thanks

"Studying self esteem will make no difference at all if the person does not feel good about themselves."
......good point but HOW do you do it? the study of self-esteem teaches us methods and skills to achieve all the feelings of worth and other things you mention. most of us do not know HOW TO DO IT (no skills).

Studying self esteem will make no difference at all if the person does not feel good about themselves.

For someone to gain good self esteem, they need to realise all the good things about themselves, have self respect, take control of yourself and not give anyone else the power to make you feel less than worthy. No one can make you feel bad except yourself. It's about taking back control of your own self and not listening to the negative things that people say about you. Only you can make you feel bad. It's your mind not anyone elses. Only put yourself in situations where you have positive people around you if you can. If someone does not respect you, then respect yourself and not have anything to do with them. Self esteem can only be acheived by changing the way you think about YOU.

I don't know, the guy with the hair falling out and the one with size questions seem kinda shaken up too.

I think that part of the problem is our society. We have totally unrealistic ideas about how people - Women in particular - are supposed to look. It becomes difficult to be okay with who you are when you don't measure up to the models. (even the guys who are losing their hair have these issues.) It seems like we are becoming more and more superficial. I have even heard someone remark to someone else that they didn't think somebody else could have any problems because they were so pretty. Imagine that - all my problems could be solved - if only I were pretty enough ....

So, the flip side of that means if I have any problems, then I must not be pretty enough, right?

No wonder people have esteem issues ....

How do you gain confidence in yourself? By working to be better at what you feel inadequate about. Dont fear-especially failure, and give everything you got in doing positive things and your self esteem will explode to new heights.
