I would recommend building a myspace page. It's free, easy to use, and kind of addicting.

buy a domain, search at www.godaddy.com

they cost about $8/year.

Then you need someone to "host" the site, and that costs about $4-10 month.

Then you need to design the site - there are lots of good programs out there for that.

Most importantly, you need to develop content. Write a new page every day. Start now so you can fill it up when all this stuff gets in order.

www.webmonkey.com
www.webmasterworld.com

etc, etc...

forget all those free "wiener" websites - noone will take you seriously and they are supported by advertisements on YOUR site. Lay out the cash and thank god the prices have went down like 90% in the past 6 years.

Go to the web site below and register a domain. They have a great site to get a page up and running.

GO HERE!!!

http://geocities.yahoo.com/

I would recommend yahoo's Geocities, since you're already a user, it's free, I've used it for 7 years now..... there's many useful sites to help you get started, do a search of 'simple html webpages or html tutorials' to get started..... And yes it becomes very addictive....The possibilites are limitless, and when you find something you like on any webpage, you basically can view the source of whats shown on their page and copy it and paste it into your own webpage/site or manipulate it to your liking..... GoodLuck!!!
