The only clear reason why Israel is in that miss is the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land . if Israel implement the UN 242 resolution in full there will be an end to the on going wars in the Middle East. Israel up to this day will not tell the world and the Palestinian that it will withdraws from all the land mentioned in UN Resolution. Israel want to keep land that was never part of Israel and this is why Israel will never have a lasting peace with native Palestinian people .

There is a wave of anti-Semitism (not just anti-Zionism) in Europe and among supposedly liberal thinkers in many parts of the world. It is part "peace movement" and part appeasement. And part self-loathing, guilt and all the rest. The canonization of Rachel Corrie is part of that. People think that they could, somehow, be friends with Hamas, and even Hezbollah.

Israel suffers -- and the United States does in Iraq and as empires did for millennia -- from an occupation syndrome. Israeli "operators", economic and political, get vested interests in occupied terroritories, and over time this leads not to Apartheid, the emotive and racist term, but to economic discrimination and disadvantage.

Once terror enters into the mix at least two things happen: (1) the terrorists become gangsters and thieves (as the IRA did, as bank robbers and extorters; with the UDA not far behind in Northern Ireland) and (2) terrorism becomes an excuse to oppress, and to limit human rights (as George W. Bush has done with his curiously named USA PATRIOT Act and with his denial that any law, constitutional or other, can inhibit his doing what he pleases in the name of security.

I'm not sure it's "safe" for Arabs and Muslims to go into any Israeli Jewish neighborhood; it depends on what hotheads may or may not be about. Neither is it necessarily unsafe for a Jew to go into an Arab country or neighborhood. It is unsafe for a stranger to go into a lawless area. Gaza and Iraq are largely lawless. It is unsafe for a stranger to go into certain neighborhoods in Northern Ireland. Or certain neighborhoods in the USA.

Arabs have invested large sums of money in Anti Israeli propaganda for many years, while Israelis spent money on trees, etc.
