Be careful of the fine print. Most pay-as-you-go plans have a $1.00 per day access fee. So, if you use the phone on any given day that's a dollar (before they start charging per minute!). That could be $30-$31 per month - just for "access charges". Also be careful of phone companies with complicated spending limit accounts.

If this is Cingular's Pay as you go plan then your confused because you have options.

Option 1 is the card option.
With this option you go to local retailer of pay as you go card and put the buy minutes for your phone. These truly are pay as you go; there is no unlimited peak time.

Option 2 montly reoccuring charge, but no contract.
You have minutes for the month, and if you pay 49.99 a month you will also get unlimited nights and weekends.
Thi splan requires you to register a credit card when setting up your service.

These plans are not the most cost effective method of getting you minutes. I would first try to convive your parents to get a contract plan. You'll get more minutes for your buck.

If parents won't get you a phone, this isn't the wors to the plans out there. If you plan on talking a lot, you may consider getting MetroPCS or surewest for unlimted talking. Reception is super bad, but if parents won't get you a phone; then this is a good option since your not old enought to sign a contract with the normal plans.

Pay as you go phones are great for people that don't use their cell phones very often. The charge per minute is higher, however, it's the cheapest cost per month available.
You can't talk as much as you want because you have to buy your minutes and once those minutes are done, unless you add more money to your phone, you cannot make or receive calls.
So if your going to use your cell phone alot, this is not the way to go but if your using for emergency case only, then it's the most cost efficient.

Pay as you go is great... I still use it,

You just get cards from reatilers, call a number and it will add credits to your phone, when you run out they tell you to go and buy more credit. simple.

Just use a good company and you'll be fine, its EXCELLENT for a high school student because when you don't have cash people can still call you (even if you can't call them)....

No running debts...

i belive that pay as you go is a rip off it always ends up more expensive than a normal plan and it is less of a chalange to have a normal cellular plan
