I can pay my bills but nothing else. I can't see more than 4 feet in front of me. This is really frustrating! The damn government won't help me for $hit!

Sucks don't it? You could always try local charities like the Lions club or something like that. They got glasses for my daughter when she needed them at no charge.

I am assuming you don't have the medical card then? I had that a long time ago and I know you get a pair of glasses per year if needed. Do you not have insurance through work? Alot of vision plans provide a pair of glasses every year too. Maybe you could check with your local optometrist office to see if they could put you on a payment plan. I am pretty sure if your vision is that bad without glasses it will only get worse.

Well my husband and i are making to much for any help. wanna know what they told us.. sorry if you had kids then we could help you! its like what! you people expect me to have kids that i do not want just so i can get help. i don't think so.. i just went to walmart and did a lay a way plan for my glasses.. and finding a job with benefits for my husband is so hard because he was in a car accident a couple years ago and is so messed up he can't do much but he is not a drug addict so he can't get disability. so he is working these dead end jobs that barely pays. and i was a waitress for years so i never had any coverage.. i stared a job 3 months ago but 4 weeks in to it. i went down this slide at the pool and tore something in my knee and need surgery so i am out of work. and once again i am supposed to pay for my orthopedic and my surgery without no help. If i was a illegal or a drug addict i would get help though. So don't feel bad your not the only one that needs help. Like i said just do what i did with walmart with the lay a way plan.

You cut off your internet access....so that you can save the money from the bill and afford glasses or you get a damn job like the rest of the world.

Target and Walmart are cheaper and I suggest you call ahead and ask if one of them would allow you to make payments just so you can get a pair of glasses.
You never know, one of then just might allow payments and your worry would be over plus you will be able to see more then 4 feet in front of you.
I completely understand you situation and I wish you the best.

If you know what your eyeglass presciption/strength is you can get a cheap pair at a store like walmart or walgreens for about $8-20.. i'm in the same situation as you, not quite poor enough to qualify for anything, but not able to afford health care... it sucks

The Lions Club is the best answer. People like me who get new glasses give their old ones to the DR and they are reground for someone else. If they cannot help you directly, I bet they will know where you can get help. Good Luck

Don't know where you are located, but I would guess the U.S.? This is what my mom did when I needed glasses. She got a job at Target, which provides coverage with insurance for you and your family. We got my glasses, paid a small price and BAM... she quit. Good deal.

Hope you find a way, bad eye sight is no fun. Goodluck!

Why would it be the government who pays for your glasses and why would you want them to? Get a job and buy your own (like the rest of us).

You should talk to the Lions Club in your area. They are a charity organization that deals with vision issues. They might be in the phone book or you might look online in your local area.
