when i put the shorts in the dryer, only 1/4 of the hem under the belt loops was torn. then after taking it out of the dryer, about 3/4 total got torn. it got torn @ the lower side of the belt loops.

My well worn jeans do the same thing, the stress of your belt pulling on the loops or you tugging on the loops to pull the pants up will cause the thread to shred. Try drying them on the line, or hanging on a hanger so you don't have as much break-down of the fabric from the exposure to heat.

it means that your gaining weight or you have growed out your clothes so i suggest to buy new and fresh clothes
