They are still a powerful little country. I know that that doesn't give the right to be so bloody arrogant.

And, why all of you think that there is only Americans or Brits in the world? OPEN YOUR EYES.

They are other nations.

I've never met a single Briton who either supports colonialism or thinks we're still a colonial power - if they exist they're a total fringe group.

You'll occasionally hear Britons jokingly referring to the US as 'the colonies' or something like that, to wind up Americans in a friendly/playful way, but that's about it - there's no serious sentiment in favour of colonialism in Britain as far as I can tell. In fact I'd go further and say the British are hyper-sensitive to the issue because of an awareness of our past, which is why the vast majority of the country is opposed to Iraq and to the general idea of world-shaping.

Nevertheless the UK, whilst certainly not a superpower, is a geo-politically significant country, mostly for economic reasons - we're in the G8 for a reason, the UK has the world's 5th largest GDP.

Are ppl of little America aware that days of democracy and Great Experiment are OVER?? Why do they elect a dictator in twice?

Addendum: Following certain comments, I must add this:

I do try to promote fairness and equality everywhere, and give everyone a chance to have their day, as you would expect of an old skool Brit.

As some Buddhist priest sagely put it, "For hate cannot be overcome by hate; only through Love can hate be overturned. Thatis a law eternal". And as two of my fellow countrymen once memorably sang, "All You Need Is Love!"

I am a Brit. To do other than follow my true nature would hardly be cricket, don't you know?

Yes, people of Britain are aware that colonial days are over. It's a long time since we universally called it 'Great' Britain. Most people over here do not think "high and mighty" of themselves. Most people are quiet and thoughtful, but a few are loud and boastful.

Well we are pretty awesome... We are aware that our colonial days are over, but this awareness and spirit of "ex-empire" often causes people to look back on the days when we were the most powerful nation in the world with nostalgia. Sadly (?) we Brits were at our colonial and empire building peak just before it became unfashionable (see WW2) and some have regretted the waning of our power a little too much. These people can often be seen reading the Daily Mail and complaining about immigration and youth crime.

The rest of us are cool.

We are Mighty that is why, it may have been America that provided us the hardware in WWII but it was the will of the British soldier that won the war.

Only the dilution of our great culture by unwanted visitors has started to break this once great country. But the British will not be overrun, we are nearing a breaking point and when it snaps let the cleansing begin.

HA, Do you really belive that? Have you ever left your state? properly not let a lone left the USA. Tell me who jumped into Korea to "help the french" or who went storming in to Iraq only to screw that up? Who kills more of the enviroment from petrol fumes, fossel fuel, electric, cutting down woodland, do I need to go on. Look at your country and leaders and a bit of history of all the things since the 1800 which you lot think was for the best but did not listen to other countrys or there feelings. If your still at school ask your history teacher to tell you more of the world outside the US. At least over here we listen and try to help others, unlike you lot who sit on the fence because you can't make money out of the situation or other ways which will benifit you lot, we at least do it for the good of the world not just for us. Try a visit over here and see how good this country is, due to it's people and a great country

Let me guess, you are a Yank right?

Compared to the US we should feel proud of our history, At least we have one. The only americans that have any history thats over three hundred years are the native americans (systematically hunted by the "new" americans).

Open your eyes and look further than your local Burger Bar, put your triple cheeseburger down and get out and have a look at the world.

Then come back and comment on other countries.

We are aware that the Empire is over thanks. In its place is a Commonwealth, which most of the colonies still voluntarilly belong to.

But anyway, we're still better than you Americans because you are vulgar and we have class, as I've said before and will no doubt say again. In fact I will now. American - vulgar. British - class. There you go.

We've still got a queen. Can you believe that?
I'm not sure they think of themselves as high and mighty, maybe just a little higher and a little mightier than you. like most people I'm sure they're very nice once you get to know them, keep trying.
