as i long for someone to hold close and hold dear
of something to brag of something so near
I sit through the night so broken and cold
with nothing to warm and nothing to hold .

loneliness and emptiness... his self esteem may either be sinking or drowning.. he longs for company, for love but he's efforts are often in vain...
also, it seems a poem made by a vagabond... searching for warmth in a cold cold night...
