If the bible says that no one sin is greater than another, then why do we as christians look down on people who commit adultry or people that are gay? Doesn't the bible say that God is the judge and we are suppose to love each other? I know that there is no one free from sin (except Jesus). So, if all sins are equal, then when we point out anothers wrong doing, isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black?

This additional detail is posted after 13 answers. I work in a prison. I have inmates in there that can justify in their minds why they steal, why they sale drugs, and even why they murder. The "grade" of the sin is up to each own persons set of morals. But if the bible says that all sins are equal, then, Hitler was equal with the little old lady telling a white lie. We are not to judge, we are to love.

Have you chosen Christianity because you want to belong to some group of believers, or have you chosen it because it has convinced your reason and rational as the ultimate truth?

If some christian kills ur whole family in a most unimaginable painful terrible ways, are you gonna try to tell me you will let God judge him/her and look the other way. I know what I will do to that person if he/she did something to my family, and forgiveness will not be on the table.

So, a big resounding NO, not all sins are the same. Is Hitler as guilty as a person who stole a candy from a store? This is why I asked u the very first question.

What's the world's fastest growing religion again?

I don't believe sin is all equal.. It is all wrong in God eyes but not equal.. Thats like saying hitler is as just as guilty as a nice old lady that lied about something stupid...
Just like I feel goodness is not all equal.. Like some person might go around give something very valuable, while another might give something small. They are both good deeds, but one is greater than another...

All sin is against God, but yeah there are definelty different levels..
Judgements and rewards will all be different..

the only part of your question that is incorrect is the part where you say WE AS CHRISTIANS, and i'm not trying to be rude at all. but the bible says Christians don't do that. so basically it does not matter how long you've been to church, how much money you give, if you are a preacher, a missionary, a nun, a deacon, you aren't a christian if you don't strive to be christ like. and hating people for their sin is blatently going against what jesus taught, so therefore they are NOT christians. so you are right all except you forgot to add that those people are NOT real christians and the biggest cause for all the hate towards christianity

Jennifer, reasonable Christians can disagree about whether or not there is a "hierarchy" of sinfulness. I believe that we are all sinful by nature. Read the Sermon on the Mount and you see that no person can satisfy God's laws by actions - only God's grace through Jesus Christ offers a path to salvation.

To your question, should we call foul when someone does something wrong? It depends. We are called first to love God and believe in God, then to love each other, whether neighbor or enemy. Sometimes that love takes the form of comforting another person and developing a rapport with them when they are struggling with sin. I grow frustrated that many fellow Christians jump to condemning people's behavior when Christ himself washed the feet of sinners and freely dwelt among prostitutes and lepers.

Other times that love surfaces as honest direction and encouragement to act in more godly ways. I liken it to a parent who sometimes hugs his child when he misbhaves and sometimes corrects his behavior or lets him learn from painful mistakes. More plainly, if I see someone robbing or attacking another person, I will seek to stop him because the action is wrong both by God's written law and by the conscience He has written in each person's heart, even if they have never read His word.

Christians have a challenging responsibility to live differently than the rest of the world and to openly explain why we live differently. It is wrong to sleep with people outside of marriage, divorce a spouse, or pratice homosexuality. The fact that most people are guilty of one of those sins (and all people are guilty of some sin) does not excuse us from striving to obey God's Law and resist temptation. Nor does it exxcuse us from loving fellow sinners, even if we despise their sin.

It's not to look down on the people, but the things
the people do. The Bible tells us what's right, and
what's wrong. Many people don't read it to know. Sad.
To be a Christian, you accept Jesus Christ as your
Savior. You then strive to live life the way He would.

We should frown on all sin, and help others away from them. Whether gossip, adultery, abortion, homosexuals, gambling addictions, achohol adictions, even just simple name calling. Problem is, we overdo some things, whilst overlooking others. I really think us(the church) ought to take more care of it's internal problems while trying to help other's. Gossip runs crazy in most churches in the west, and we ought to do something about it. Still, we shouldn't neglect the others while helping ourselves either.

Those looking down are looking in the wrong direction, aren't they?
Sometimes the hardest thing we can do is release the stone and just let it fall to the ground.
Teaching others and allowing them to choose, and judge not their choice, is winning the battle over satan's influence in our own life.

ta a point but no matter what I think there is a difference between killing someone and lien or having an affair and thinking about doing it,I mean I get what you say but some people defiantly do worse things than other and we are only human to notice.
