HEMI :-Half

HEHE! Me thinks the other guys are not so sure LOL ;-)

The "HEMI" was a term used to define the original (and now later) Chrysler engines that had "Hemi" heads (rather than "Wedge" heads)

The "Hemi" head has it's intake and exhaust valves set at an angle that allows the valve face to be more in line with the intake and exhaust ports. This allows the "flow" of intake and exhaust charges to be optimized more so than a "wedge" head. Thus producing more power with the same cubic inch displacement.

The way to make a wedge head outperform a Hemi head is to turbocharge or supercharge it LOL ;-)

Hemi is a prefix which means half. In the context of Geography it is likely you are refering to a hemisphere, or half of the planet divided along one of the two major Great Circles, the equator or the Prime Meridian and 180 longitude. The East/West Hemispheres are divided along the Prime Meridian and 180 longitude while the north/south hemispheres are divided along the equator. Everything west of the prime meridian up to the 180 long. is the western and everything else is eastern. everything north of the equator is northern and everything else is southern.
