he has a liter box but prefers my bed so cover it with a shower curtain when i'm away.

You need to keep your iguana in a large wire cage outside where it can get the UVB rays from sunlight.
You are asking for trouble by letting your iguana have free roaming rights throughout your house.
It is not sanitary.
He may possible get hurt.
He will destroy any cloth curtains you may have.

That usually means he is unhappy about something. Cats will not go to the bathroom in their sleeping area.
I would figure out what your cat is unhappy about, then clean your bed VERY well to remove all scent so that he does feel the need to go there anymore.
