it's basic economics... supply and demand...
let's break it down... Iraq is a major supplier... so if a WAR breaks out... it COULD easily effect supply, since oil pipelines are OFTEN sabotaged in wars in oil rich areas...
so if the pipelines are sabotaged, then there is less oil overall, because it's all of Iraqs supplies flowing into the desert from where someone sabotaged the lines... instead of flowing onto boats taking it to other nations..
less oil=higher prices... since there is not enough oil to meet the demand...
now the trick is... they don't even have to sabotage the oil lines... but just if the market is scared it could happen, that's all they need to drive prices up... fear drives the market constantly... from possible earning report fears to anything...
IN SHORT... if you invade any country... if it has a KEY EXPORT... the world wide price of that export will rise, because there will always be fears of disrupted supplies in war zones... it doesn't matter if it's oranges or microchips... or oil in Iraq's case... same would happen in Iran, Saudi Arabia or any oil rich country...

US illegally invaded and occupied Iraq,because there were Weapons of Mass Destruction concealed behind the BUSH !! so did the by and large ignorant Americans believe,however, OIL was the weapon US was seeking.Hence the prices had to rise.

you think its bad now ... just wait if we hit iran ....iran will probably choke all oil from exiting the gulf with their chinese and soviet antiship missles in the straits ... probably for at least a few weeks...
