i want to start my own business on ebay and was tinking of what should i sell. i was thinking fragrances but the profit margin is not much. and where should i get these supplies from like wholesalers etc. please reply.

I sell lace and fabrics on ebay. I'm lucky though, because my company manufactures and wholesales the laces, and I sell off the excess inventory. This way, it doesn't cost me much, except the listing fees. If you want to sell on ebay, you should do some research and see what you CAN'T find on ebay that you think people would want. Then you know you'll have a market for it.

Keep in mind that Ebay (and PayPal) take fees from everything you sell, so you should keep abreast of your sales buy subscribing to their sales reports - this way you can see if your ebay store is profitable or not. Good luck!

DVD's and CD's are a good money maker on eBay. You will have a very small profit margin on each sale, but the volume will make up for it. Be prepared to do a good bit of work. Take your time and research good wholesale distributors. It will pay off in the long run. You will only make from less than one dollar to a couple of dollars on each sale. You can however expect to make as many as 100 to 200 sales a day if you set up your auctions correctly. But, as you can see, that would be a lot of work to package and ship all those items. It is really a full time job, but the money and the freedom are great.

Find a category you want to work in, then start looking for a wholesaler, much easier that way. I sell video games, my profit margin is 50% to 350% on 95% of my items. I've even found an item for $0.80 that I can profit $8.10 from it, so large margin on that. It takes a few weeks to sell usually, but still good. Unfortunately I was only unable to get about 10 of that item

Take a survey around your community of what people like most, then sell that.
I guess you're kind of doing that by asking us though, so, I deal with musical stuff on Ebay mostly. Different equipment. it doesnt really matter on ebay, cause there are so many people, chances are that someone is going to be interested in what you're selling, no matter what it is.

Don't fall for ebay scams.

I make lots of money on ebay just by telling my friends that if they have something they want to sell on ebay I will list it for them and take 20%

I quit my job and live on ebay money now.

Last week I made $4k on some posters that my step mother gave me outright. she knew thay had some value but didnt want to bother selling them and was too lazy to frame them so she just gave them to me. Once people know you do this they will start calling you and asking you to list things for them or just giving you things thay they dont want to bother with.

The key to a successful eBay selling is simple -- Sell products that people actually want.

Buying from garage sales and selling on eBay is fun, and good getting a few dollars here and there from ebay. Sometimes, you luck out on an item and hit big, but many times it will just be so-so (assuming you can even get the price you paid for it). In terms of fun factor, it is great. But from a business stand-point, it is not sustainable.

If you want to earn serious money from eBay, you need to have a well-thought out business model. Selling on eBay is not as easy as some portray. In fact, go to eBay and check out the number of auctions that end without a single bid. As for items to sell, you can:

1. Buy bulk liquidation items such as those at Liquidation.com. The capitalization may be big, but the idea is to sell the items individually and profit from it.

2. Find manufacturers of items you want to sell and buy discounted items from them

3. Make deals with retailers in your area, and offer to buy their unwanted items for deep discounts. jayandmarie - the most successful ebay sellers - made deals with music stores where they will buy the entire inventory in the discounted bins, and then sold the items on ebay for 1-cent starting bid.

4. Look for possible partners on the Web, preferably outside of the US. Import items from them and sell them on ebay. There's huge profits to gain from this approach.

5. Check out deals from outlet stores. Focus on brand names, which you will find to be easier to sell.
