I hadn't heard it, but I like it. I would agree, in fact. There *is* too much certainty in the world and, more importantly, it's certainty along with error.
So many people think they know something... or don't even stop to think about the difference between knowing and believing (or between facts and opinions), yet they are dead wrong.
You can see it here at Yahoo! Answers -- all over the place. But it's pervasive in life. And it's a far greater danger than many people realize.
I'm not surprised to hear an intelligent quote from one of my favorite authors.

Its cute.
The world is so full of people who are so certain that what they know or what is known in the world in general or what they think is right that they are not willing to open their minds, question things, and maybe shake up some conventional wisdom.

While it's simplistic, it reflects the simplistic, black-and-white societies permeating the world today.
Everyone is so certain of themselves, they don't have the ability to see other perspectives.

Eh, not real profound.
How about David Bowie's "I don't want knowledge, I want certainty!"

He sounds like he's certain that he's a doubter, or at least a skeptic of some sort.
