To a certain extent, yes. The Hungarians (Magyars) are mainly descended from the Huns (remember Attila) who led a trail of destruction of terror from the Mongol Steppes all the way to Eastern Europe where he was stopped. Along the way lies the origins of the Turkish people, ie, Central Asia where many Turks are still found today in countries like Turkmenistan, Uzbekistian, Kyrghistan, etc

Both heavily influenced by the Ottoman armies that went through their area's so yes they do have some common origins.
