Step 1. Buy a 12 gauge shotgun and a box of ammo.
Step 2. Buy a 24 pack of your favorite beer and put 'em on ice.
Step 3. Invite a few buddies over.
Step 3. Drink your beer and unload all you've got at the pesky rabbits.
Step 4. Smile in satisfaction, knowing you just pissed off your liberal neighbor.

You really can't take any steps to keep them from mulitplying. if you want them gone you could live trap them and move them to another area. If you want them around, but just not lots of rabbits, plant items in your yard that they do not like to eat. Like cat nip, Rose bushes, Poppies, etc... They will more than likely stick around the neighborhood but won't stay in your area exclusively. Also rabbits only have on average 2 litters a year numbering 3-5 babies each time (some domesticated/pet rabbits will have larger litters) and of these babies very few actually reach adulthood. They fall prey to many larger animals...dogs, cats, skunks, possums, etc... So if i were you i would just enjoy them for they probably won't be around as much as you think.

You can't "prevent" them from multiplying. You'll have to get rid of them. More than likely, though, there are already more than 2! You can buy a "hav-a-heart" trap and relocate them into some faraway woods. These traps will not hurt them. Both ends open up and you put bait in the middle. When they go to eat, they will trip the lever and the ends will close. You can then haul them off. Just check them daily. I have caught squirrels and even birds in them.
Hope this helps!

I understand your wife not wanting to harm the rabbits. The rabbits usually move on quickly. If not to move them by catching and releasing somewhere else. Or keep a dog around that of course does not hunt rabbits.

I understand you not wanting to hurt them, but I would gladly offer you the services of my cat - she's brought home 2 rabbits and 2 birds in the last 2 days. I was able to rescue one of the birds but the rabbits nearly broke my heart, they were only teenaged size still warm and with dirt on their little paws.
Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear. Good luck with yours

rabbit stew! or,, live traps- use fresh lettuce for bait, or cabbage, or carrots ... or powder out a little ceyenne pepper onto everything they eat in your yard, just about everything. some say moth balls will detere them (if you have the time to castrate enough of them!), get a cat and don't feed it, or a puppy. The cat will think they are really tastey mice but, the puppy can't catch them but will try till they go away..

You can't prevent rabbits from mutiplying. Surely, you've heard the expression "multiplies like rabbits".

Try calling animal control or if they can't help, build a fence around your backyard and your front yard. Fences only to the areas where they appear.

Buy a rabbit hutch and keep them seperated. Or make a big enclosure and section it off.

Catch and release traps - should be able to rent them from animal control or humane society.
