Are there any differances between them besides the size and where they live? I know how the boa kills it's prey but dosn't the annaconda kill the same way? Thanks.

Boas are a type of snake that are members of the Boidae family. Boas are basal snakes that are "primitive" in evolutionary terms (i.e. less derived). They are constrictors and most give birth to live young. They have anal spurs, a pair of claws on each side of the cloaca which are vestiges of legs. Boas are named after cows (Latin: bos) because of the old myth that boa snakes pursue cows and suckle them until they are drained to death.

Boas have two subfamilies: Boinae or true boas and Erycinae or sand boas. Pythons are sometimes classified as a subfamily of Boidae, but are frequently listed under their own family, Pythonidae.

Anacondas (Jibóia and Sucuri, local names) are four species of aquatic boa snake inhabiting the swamps and rivers of the dense forests of tropical South America as well as the southern swamps of the island of Trinidad. The Yellow Anaconda can be found as far south as Argentina. They digest their preys flesh in their stomach and regurgitate the fur and bones.

Depends on what you mean by Boa, technically an Anaconda is a Boa snake, in that it is a member of the Boidae family of snakes.

However if you are referring to Boa Constrictor they are 2 different subspecies of snake within the same family of snakes, Anacondas are the largest members of the Boidae family, live in South America and are aquatic, living in rivers and swamps. Boa Constrictors are the second largest members of the Boidae family and are found from Mexico through South America.

Neither snake is venomous, both are constrictors. Boa constrictors kill their prey by gripping them with their powerful jaws, then wrapping around them and squeezing them to death, tightening their grip each time their prey exhales until it is no longer able to draw breath. Anacondas generally kill by grabbing on to their prey and drag them underwater until they drown, although they can kill in the same way a Boa constrictor does when necessary.

To my knowledge, the Boa constricts its prey, thereby crushing it to death.
The Anaconda bites and kills.

They are both constrictors, which means they suffocate their prey by squeezing it. They are merely different species, like, for instance, a black labrador retriever, and a pit bull...both dogs, yet different species.
