it is a detachable hardware that works like a diskett. USB floppy drive must be connected to the USB port. USB floppy drive stores files. Unlike the diskett which is 1.44 MB only, USB floppy drive is 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, or 2GB. Hence, USB floppy drive stores more than the diskett but more expensive than the diskett. To use the USB drive, attach it to the USB port. Then, a message will appear and tell you thta a new hardware was added. To detach a USB drive, right-click the USB drive sign in the down-right corner of your computer. Then click the thing that will safely detach the USB drive. After that , a message will appear that it is safe to detach the USB drive. Then, pull out the USB drive from the USB port.

The external USB drive is a small squre black box that can be purchased from any computer stores to connect with USB port of the computer to insert your floppy disc incase the built in flopy disc is inoperative and you can extract or save your documents in it and this is one orthodex method nowadays in computer storage however it is needed for interim purpose as long as you are using floppies.
