If you do believe that it is the result of genetics, can you cite supporting studies?

As of this moment, scientists have not proven it is a genetic factor. They have mentioned the Y chromosome; but the proof is years away. Without anything concrete, the theory of environment has just as much credence as anything else that has been published.

Read the book "The Dependent Gene". Both genetics and the environment are the cause.

some straight prisoners practice homosexuality but this does not mean that they are gay, just desperate for sex - once out of prison most return to being straight again - so I don't think that the environment causes homosexuality at all except as a temporary replacement as described above - my answer to your question therefore must be that you are born with it

Genetics.
i knew one of best buds was gay when we were in 8th grade and believe me it was not the environment he grew up in. We're much older now and he hasn't changed a bit. (Thank God!)

I think I am who I am. It is definitely not enviormental in my case. There has been no abuse (sexual or otherwise). I was not exposed to diverse cultures as a child. I have known that I was a lesbian from an early age. I believe in my heart of hearts that I was born to be exactly who I am. Just one of those mysteries of life. You know, like blue eyes or big feet. Who knew!

i dont think it is genetic...for example...w/ food...my parents and basically everyone in my family likes olives...and i cant stand them...i swear to u they make me gag...i cant eat them w/o throwing up...so if genetics were to play a role in anything...i would have liked olives...right??? well i think so...
i just believe u r just born liking or not liking what u do...i was born not liking olives...and obviously it wasnt genetic....
therefore homosexuals are just born like that, it is their personal prefrence...thats all there is to it...=)
see ppl believe that it is genetics and the environment...if ur hetero/homosexual, i dont think it matters what environment ur in...that is how u are....again, the olives...they could be in rice or in a salad...to me they are nasty...either way...same goes for ppl...
but then again, whose to say im correct...but whose to say that book is correct "The Dependent Gene"??????
