If the desire to smoke is that bad, then it may be worth the try. But also don't hesitate to explore other options and aids to stop smoking. Gum may also be a good distraction.

First of all, you should think about what could possibly taking your concentration from school. Maybe you are going through a down cycle. Sometimes it happens to us. I remember when I graduated from high school. I could not open the notebooks anymore for long time. I don't know the exact reason, but it took a life for returning to the world of knowledge. I went to college and now I'm happy for returning.
In conclusion, you should take it easy, and try to pay attention little by little. Don't push yourself so hard at first, usually it is worse.
